Rob has been happily using his Moses Upright (KP-4) for about three years on stages up and down the West coast.
The styles that he plays range from straight-ahead jazz with the leading players of today's scene at the Sanford Jazz Workshop, to Avant-Garde with a string quartet at the du Maurier Music Festival in Vancouver, B.C., to the jam band sounds of the Alice DiMicele Band that appears this summer at the Strawberry Festival and Seattle's Bumber Shoot Festival.
"The Moses has a futuristic look and feel, with a vintage tone. I can simulate the tone of, let's say, a classic Ron Carter or Cecil McBee sound while walking, and then when I solo the evenness and clarity of sound allow me to play very contemporary ideas. Then if I grab my bow, the colors and sounds that are available are limitless and very progressive."
"The Moses has a very hip Latin tone. With the treble rolled off you can get an authentic Reggae thump or a Motown vibe, and the lush sustain is killing on ballads. The Moses is one of the most versatile basses I have ever had the good fortune to play!"
